A prayer for spiritual communion

Sharing is caring!

When you participate in a celebration of the Word of God, as Aleteia suggests, or if you watch mass live on television or on the Internet, if you are unable to receive the Holy Eucharist, here is a prayer that you can recite in order to fully experience spiritual communion.

Lord Jesus, I believe you are present

with the Father and the Spirit deep in my heart.

You are also present in the holy sacrament,

for the glory of God and the salvation of the world.

I bow down and adore you as I am,

with everything I’m going through at the moment.

I would like to welcome you sacramentally,

but I can’t do it now.

Dig within me the burning desire to receive

spiritually your body and your blood,

to welcome you simply like Mary,

in trust, humility and peace.

I unite intimately in thought with a priest

who celebrates mass somewhere in a church.

I participate from afar in your Eucharistic sacrifice

waiting for the bread shared with the assembly.

Poor and miserable in the dark night of faith,

I commune with your life in the way you want.

Satisfy my soul which longs for your love,

give me the grace to never be separated from you.
