The actor Matt Damon goes through a painful moment: the illness of his father Kent Damon, grandfather of his four children …

The American actor Matt Damon , currently in theaters with the movie Suburbicon , directed by his friend George Clooney, has revealed to the television network Extra  that his father was seriously ill.

To accompany his family in this difficult trance, the 47-year-old actor has invited his fans to pray for him. He said: “We will receive all your prayers, so send them to us!” Never before had the actor made a public statement about his position in relation to his faith.

His father, Kent Damon, suffers from multiple myeloma, a cancer that affects the blood. This disease was diagnosed six years ago and the actor already showed his concern about it at that time. At that time he told the media that he had “lost some close friends because of cancer in recent years,” which is enough to understand the fear of his father’s departure.

Although the disease seems to progress slowly, as understood by the words of Matt Damon, his father’s fight against cancer affects the professional life of Damon son. Thus, he decided to cancel his participation in the BAFTA awards last April to stay next to his father’s bed.

“It’s wonderful to be his father”

With the upcoming premiere of Matt Damon with the movie Downsizing (A Life in Style) , at the end of this December in the United States and Spain, we hope that his father will continue to follow the career of this son he admires much longer. According to Kent Damon in 2011: “He is everything that could be asked of a child. It’s wonderful to be his father. ”

To face cancer, beyond the tools available thanks to scientific progress, many patients resort to the protection of the saints to combat their fear, or to bring calm or even cure them. There is Saint Rita, as saint of impossible causes, invoked for the healing of tumors; Santa Galla, Santa Agata or even Santa Aldegunda de Maubeuge. For sick relatives, it is also possible to pray a novena to Peregrino Laziosi, patron saint of cancer and incurable patients.
