Prayer to ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit

Prayer to ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit

To pray all year long, not only at the feast of Pentecost

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of wisdom , so that I may more and more appreciate the divine things and, burning by the fire of Your love, joyfully prefer the things of heaven to all that is worldly, and bind me forever to Christ, suffering in this world for his love.

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of understanding , so that, enlightened by the heavenly light of your grace, you may well understand the sublime truths of salvation and the doctrine of the holy religion.

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of counsel , so necessary in the painful steps of life, that I may always choose what is most pleasing to you, follow your divine grace in everything and know how to help my neighbor with good advice.

ALSE SEE:  St. John Paul II’s key to a successful Lent

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of strength , that I may depart from sin, practice virtue with holy fervor, and face with patience, and even with joy of spirit, contempt, prejudice, persecution, and death itself; to deny words and works to Christ.

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of science , that I may know more and more of my own misery and weakness, the beauty of virtue and the inestimable value of the soul, and that I may always see clearly the snares of the devil, world in order to avoid them.

ALSE SEE:  It was with this prayer that a Brazilian obtained the miracle of the Holy Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of piety , which will make my treatment and conversation delightful with you in prayer and make me love God with intimate love as my Father, the Most Holy Mary and all men as my brothers in Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit, grant me the gift of the fear of God , that I may always remember with great reverence and deep respect your divine presence, tremble as the angels themselves before your divine majesty and fear nothing as much as displease-Vos !

Come, Holy Spirit, stay with me and pour out your divine blessings upon me. Amen.
